Yoga and travel are the best combinations we can dream of. Travel gives us new horizons, challenges us, teaches us new things, connecting us with new people. And yoga? Yoga does the same, right? But at the same time, yoga balances us, grounds us, makes us more healthy and give us a new perspective.
As a yoga enthusiast, I can not give up yoga practice no matter where I am. But why should I do that? I have prepared a few tips on how to maintain your yoga practice while traveling. These tips will help you keep up with your healthy habits, and at the same time, overcome stress from the new location and relax after long walks and flights.

Breathing and Meditation practice during the flight
You can start your practice while on the plane. For some people, flying is not a favorite thing. The time can be used to do some breathing exercises or for a brief meditation. We should not forget that yoga is much more than one or two asanas.
Create your own yoga place
Once you arrive, whether in the hotel or Airbnb, create your yoga place. If you don’t bring your yoga mat, you can also use the bed for your morning or evening practice.
Use YouTube or mobile yoga apps
If you do not have the inspiration to create your own flow, you can play 10-20 minutes of video on YouTube (or favorite yoga app on your phone), which will be enough to move your body and calm your mind.
Check out local yoga studios
The best thing about traveling and yoga is to connect with other people, with the community. You can check out some local yoga studio and get out of your comfort zone. You will dive into the atmosphere of the city in a very different way, you will meet new people, and of course, you will practice yoga.
Find new ways to practice
Walking through the new streets, seeing new places, parks, etc, we may have a whole new idea of how to practice in a different way than usual. We can provoke ourselves and go outside the mat, experiment, do something new. Why not?
Enjoy the moment
Nothing is necessary. If you do not feel the need to do yoga every day, let it be. It is important to build a habit, not a schedule. Yoga teaches us to appreciate the moment, to be here and now. Traveling is the best way to be aware of all these things. Appreciate the moment when you wake up at a totally new place and bed, appreciate the taste of the different food and all the new places you visit.
Have a nice trip.
Namaste,
Moni

Yes, chair yoga is also a good way to practice yoga on the road. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
I love the meditating on a flight. My husband should try that. He hates flying!
There are plenty of good meditation apps and you can also listen to mantras to distract you from the flight. 🙂
